Notes

Abstract:
Landmark Fact Sheet for the Tyler House located at 431 N.E. 94th Street, Miami Shores, FL, dated 1/17/83. The property is classified as single-family residential and was constructed in 1925. The two-story Mediterranean Revival residence features stucco/masonry construction with an L-shaped plan and a single-story projecting wing. Architectural elements include a Spanish tile gable roof with exposed wood rafters, large arched windows, applied bas-relief decoration, and an attached chimney. The house is believed to be the first constructed in the Miami Shores subdivision and was the residence of Hansford D. and Gladys Beckwith Tyler. Mr. Tyler was vice-president of the Hill Motor Car Company, and Mrs. Tyler authored a book on local history. The building may have served as an office for the Shoreland Company briefly. ( en )
