|a An aerial view of the Holiday Isle Resort, which is located on the top of the picture. Visible is the boat dock, as well as the bar on the right-hand side. The resort, located on Islamorda, Florida, featured 80 air-conditioned rooms, the largest dive shop in the Keys, a convention facility, a restaurant, a sandwich shop, a specialty shop, and a Bait and Tackle shop. Its marina, the largest between Miami and Key West, could handle boats up to 85 ft. Guests could enjoy the water at the private beach or at the freshwater pool located on the property. The motel also offered chartered fishing trips, such as night harpoon fishing, and other excursions, such as a trip on a glass bottom boat, to its guests. In 1975, a three-day, two-night stay cost $89 per person. |
