Notes

Abstract:
Maureen Harwitz, Arch Creek Trust President, discusses how she got involved with Arch Creek Trust, how the organization was formed in the early 1980s, and the reasons for preserving Arch Creek -the most important site in Miami Dade County. She recalls some people who have been crucial in the organization’s commitment to preserve Arch Creek, such as Harvey Ruvin, Alice Cohen, Carol Helene, and Rick Ferrer. Finally, she describes some of the projects the Trust is working on at the moment, such as collaborating with FIU in the Digitization of ACT records to provide access to information and documentation about the site, supporting the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami (MOCA), Teen Art Force Program, creating an interpretative guide to the history and importance of the Park, and the planning of the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Park.
