Rudy Jean-Bart was born on July 6, 1983 in Miami, Florida to Haitian parents Nancy and Rulx Jean-Bart. His mother was the first child in her family to be born in America and his father grew up in Porte Prince, Haiti then moved to Brooklyn, New York. Rudy discusses his childhood growing up in a middle-class family and attending private school. He graduated from Florida A&M University with an undergraduate degree in Public Relations and a graduate degree in History with a focus in African American history. After working as a history professor at Miami-Dade College and Broward College, Rudy was awarded the Professor of the Year at Broward College South Campus in 2016. In the same year, he participated in a scholar-in-residence program through a grant and travelling exhibit “Changing America” at the African American Research Library and Cultural Center. The exhibit highlighted the anniversaries of the Emancipation Proclamation and the March on Washington.
