Notes

Scope and Content:
Jerry Libbin has been President and CEO of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce since 2010. In 2005 he was elected to the City of Miami Beach Commission and served two terms. In the interview he talks about being motivated to be in public service for most of his adult life. For many years he was director of the early Jewish Cultural Center, which was housed in the Wofford Estate. He ran the Senior Adult Center and the Family Center, where he established an economically viable center which expanded into a very popular enterprise under his direction. As President of the Chamber, Libbin is particularly proud of the Miami Beach Educational Foundation, which was started by the Chamber and evolved into a separate non-profit. During his tenure, the Chamber assisted the Miami Beach public schools into becoming certified International Baccalaureate schools, ensuring high standards of learning for Beach children. They also raise money annually for college scholarship for promising Beach students. ( en )
