Notes

Scope and Content:
Francinelee Hand reminisces about her childhood on Miami Beach and the many visits she and her parents made to Havana in its heyday. She recalls the casinos and the beautiful architecture and hotels. These early experiences affected her appreciation for the tropics and for tropical decor, reflected in her historically designated 1929 home on Miami Beach. She is an activist and philanthropist for the arts and has supported the Miami Ballet since its inception. She serves on a recently formed Miami Beach Commission for Human Rights. She discusses a pragmatic approach to historic preservation of the grand old homes on Miami Beach. Ms. Hand is a Trustee of the Miami City Ballet. ( en )
