Abstract:
Barton Goldberg has been an influential presence in Miami Beach for decades, serving on the Executive Board of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and Chair of the Miami Beach Zoning Board. As the founder and President of Jefferson Bank, he helped finance the commercial development of the Beach and discusses the progress made and the challenges. His father had a hardware store on 5th Street. Mr. Goldberg became a lawyer and, eventually, a prominent banker. He has been a member of Temple Emmanuel for 70 years and has served on many boards of prominent Miami Beach institutions like Mt. Sinai Hospital. Mr. Goldberg is a colorful person, a staunch supporter of the Beach who wears cowboy boots to work and raises show horses. He is an example of the unique personalities who populate the Beach.
