Scope and Content:
Enid C. Pinkney was born in Overtown in 1931. She has been a leader in historic preservation, has written a book on the Hampton House, and has been instrumental in saving many Miami landmarks. Her father immigrated to Miami from the Bahamas, and worked for a prominent hotelier family in Miami Beach. Dr. Pinkney speaks of interactions her family had with the police on Miami Beach, segregation in Miami, and being aware of discrimination as a child.
