General Note:
Balboa Plaza is a grassy street median at the intersection of Coral Way, South Greenway Drive, De Soto Boulevard and Anderson Road. Designed by George Merrick's uncle, Denman Fink, and landscape architect, Frank Button, the site includes a wall fountain that spouts water into a semicircular basin. The decorative limestone structure has end-piers with lanterns. This plaza is named for the Spanish conquistador Vasco Nuñez de Balboa.
