Abstract:
Carl Fisher's 150-room Flamingo Hotel opened on New Years Day 1921, at a cost of $2 million. Built on the Biscayne Bay, it was Miami Beach's first grand hotel and an instant hit with the public. This postcard shows that guests were taking adavntage of the tropical weather and dancing in the open field in front of the Flamingo Hotel. -- From "Miami in Vintage Postcards", by Patricia Kennedy, 2000.
