520 3    |a This postcard shows an aerial view of the magnificent architecture style of St. Francis Hospital. Its red roof against yellow building and green gardens was strikingly beautiful. It was designed by August Geiger who was one of the most prominent American architects in South Florida from 1905 to the late 1940s.It was built by Carl Fisher's close friend Jim Allison from Indianapolis. The hospital originally bore his own name but was eventually deeded to the Sister of St. Francis, who for many years operated a find health care institution. Changing times, an aging physical plant, and a death of patients brought an end to the facility. -- From Wikipedia and Miami beach, by Seth Bramson, 2005.
