"The Royal Palm Hotel was the first hostelry built in Miami, its site being an Indian village at the mouth of the Miami River on Biscayne Bay. Several hundred varieties of palms and other tropical plants and flowers are found in the spacious gardens surrounding this hotel. Walking through these beautiful tropical scenes is a source of constant pleasure to visitors." -- From verso.
