Notes

Abstract:
"The Halcyon (sometimes called the Halcyon Hall) Hotel, at the corner of Twelfth (Flagler) Street and Avenue B (Northeast Second Avenue), was for several years Miami's second-largest hotel, outsized only by the Royal Palm. A much-beloved landmark of the early Miamians, it lasted until the late 1930s, when it was torn down to be replaced by Alfred I. Dupont Building, a monumental structure on the northwest corner of Flagler and Northeast Second Avenue. During World War II, the building would serve as the U.S. Navy District Headquaters"--(From Miami : The Magic City, by Seth H. Bramson)
