Description
Nicole Henry started singing in a gospel choir at the University of Miami where she studied advertising and theater. After graduating, she learned about the music industry while working at the Recording Academy. Henry explains her journey of working three jobs, one being a singer at a nightclub that led to her first live performance and recording music. She found her passion while being an entertainer and began writing songs. Through a mutual acquaintance, Henry had the opportunity to tour as a background singer with a blues-rock band called Robert Bradley's Blackwater Surprise. Being a Black artist in Miami Beach, she understands the history of African Americans on Miami Beach. She also speaks about the bias towards white vocalists who are celebrated for sounding Black rather than giving the opportunities to Black people.
