The De Soto Plaza and fountain, built in 1925, is named after Hernando De Soto, the Spanish explorer and conquistador. The plaza features a monumental freestanding fountain that serves as a traffic circle at the intersection of Sevilla Avenue, Granada Boulevard, and De Soto Boulevard. Designed by Denman Fink, the pedestal-type fountain supports an obelisk and features four relief carvings of faces containing water jets. Vintage lanterns provide light when the dark of night falls.
