The Florida International University (FIU) digital repository hosts unique collections of cultural, historical, scholarly, educational, and community resources. These include rare books, manuscripts, maps, photographs, oral histories, and more, curated from FIU Libraries and partner institutions. Our platform offers robust search capabilities, metadata-driven discovery, a multi-lingual interface, and accessibility features designed to support diverse users.
Our mission is to build and preserve online collections that provide enduring value to the university and the broader community. By identifying, digitizing, and maintaining information resources of scholarly, educational, and civic significance, we aim to support teaching, research, and lifelong learning. These collections offer free access to primary sources and foster broad engagement with academic and community history initiatives.
Our digital collections emphasize local and regional materials of historical, scientific, cultural, and educational importance, particularly those reflecting the heritage and diversity of South Florida, the Caribbean, and Latin America. We work closely with partner institutions, including local libraries, museums, and archives, to expand the reach and depth of our collections. These collaborations ensure that diverse voices and histories are represented.
Our collections are hosted on the TIND digital library system, which provides robust support for managing and delivering digital assets. FIU Libraries' digital preservation program ensures the long-term accessibility of our collections by adhering to international standards and best practices. We continually strive to expand our collections, enhance user experience, and integrate emerging technologies like artificial intelligence for improved discoverability and access.
We are committed to:
