Notes

General Note:
FROM: St. Augustine & St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce; 10 Castillo Dr.; ST. AUGUSTINE, FLORIDA -- The City Gate, which once protected this nation's oldest city from attack by land, was part of the Cubo Line, a defense wall which stretched from the gate to the nearby San Sebastion River. Recent reconstruction of a part of the Cubo Line has been accomplished by the National Park Service, thus providing a tie-in between the gate and Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. The gate's masonry pillars were built in 1808, although the gate itself was constructed in 1738.; -30-; PUBLICITY DIRECTOR; ST. AUGUSTINE & ST.
