Notes

Abstract:
The Lummus brothers sold this land west of Washington Avenue and north of Fifth Street to A.C. Newby, James A. Allison, James Snowden, George Snowden, Carl Fisher, and Henry McSweeney. They organized the Miami Ocean View Company. Newby lived just south of Carl Fisher in a palatial mansion. His hobbies were hotels, boat racing, and other aquatic sports. One of his boats was named Altonia. This information was taken from the book "Miami Beach in 1920" by Dr. Abraham Lavender, pages 82 and 138. Photographs taken from the photo album titled "Glimpses of Alton Beach and Environs," property of Carl G. Fisher of Indianapolis. ( English )
