Abstract:
The Castaways was located on the
Ocean
at 163rd St., Miami Beach, Fla and has been described as an Oriental Modern / Neo-Chinese Polynesian Pastiche by Architect Charles McKirahan and Tony Sherman. The motel had 540 rooms, 5 swimming pools, tennis courts, a fishing pier and 10 acres of land with access to 1000 feet of emerald coast. The motel also had 7 bars, with the most famous one being the Wreck Bar. The Wreck Bar hosted the likes of The Beatles, The Monkees, and Jimmy Hendrix.
