Notes
Abstract:
The interview features Serum, a Miami-based underground hip-hop artist and graffiti writer, sharing his experiences and contributions to the Miami hip-hop scene over the past two decades. He discusses his early influences growing up in New York, his move to Miami in 1989, and his deep involvement in both music and graffiti. Serum reflects on his early days as an MC and graffiti writer, the crews he represented, and the evolving Miami hip-hop culture, particularly in the 1990s and early 2000s. He highlights key moments in his career, such as his participation in Scribble Jam, involvement with iconic crews like Boom Squad and XCEL Crew, and his impact on Miami’s underground music and graffiti scenes. The interview also touches on his personal motivations, challenges, and the close-knit community of artists who shaped the city’s creative landscape.
