Abstract:
An interview with Uzi Baram, who is the Director of Public Archaeology at Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and has worked as an archaeologist in Florida for over 20 years. Baram is interviewed by Rebecca Peterson, Community Programs Manager for Vizcaya Museum & Gardens. In this interview, Baram talks about the history of the land in South Florida, including the prehistoric landscape, land stewardship by Indigenous peoples, colonizalism, and climate change. He also discusses how archaeological research informs discussions of the past and of the future.
