Scope and Content:
Bruce Turkel was born and raised on Miami Beach. His father built the first condominiums on the Beach and was very successful. His parents were social activists. Bruce remembers when Caesar Chavez, the founder of United Farm Workers, stayed at their house. Bruce talks about the freedom of growing up on the Beach, getting around by bus, bicycle, even a boat when he was older. He talks about Miami Beach’s evolution through the 60’s and the social changes that occurred.
