Scope and Content:
Mel Olman is a musician (pianist) who came to the Beach when he was 9 years old in 1951. As a performer he played the clubs, hotels, and the Fontainebleau. He talks about those days and growing up on the Beach. His father, Val Olman, was a society band leader and violinist who played with Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Tony Bennett and Dean Martin. In 1984 Mel joined his father as a performing duo at the Fontainebleau, where they played for eight years. He talks about those times.
