Abstract:
This postcard shows the back view of Miami Beach Casino. Carl Fisher bought John Collin's North Beach Casino, located at Twenty-third Street in what was considered the northern end of the beach at the time. He refurbished and opened the casino in 1914 and renamed it the Roman Pools. A Dutch windmill was built to pump salt water into two large swimming pools where diving and swimming exhibitions drew large crowds." -- From "Miami Beach in Vintage Postcards", by Patricia Kennedy, 2000.
