Abstract:
The small, but strategically important town of Phoenix Castle (Fenghuangcheng), was taken by Japanese forces one day after the land battle of Yalu River. The First Army split in half, one marching toward Mukden, the capital of Manchuria, and the second toward Port Arthur, along with the Second Army.

Triptych woodblock print, ink and colors on paper; original printed title label in Japanese in the middle; 1 red seal, artist's signature, and colophon with printer's name and printing date in Japanese in the right bottom corner.
