Description

"Sounds of the Everglades" features Samuel Tommie, an Indigenous artist from the Everglades and member of the Seminole Tribe, who shares reflections on the relationship between Indigenous peoples and the U.S. government. He emphasizes themes of justice, respect, healing, and interconnectedness with nature, grounded in cultural traditions and spiritual practices. Accompanying his spoken reflections, Tommie plays a Native American flute. The session concludes with a prayer song, inviting participants to reflect on unity, environmental responsibility, and social equity.
